It Came Upon a Midnight Clear

Sam and I found some beautiful mercury glass
inter-illuminated trees
at Sam's Club this season!

get them here
A remote controlled pack of four for $39.98.
Sure beats Pottery Barn's prices hands down!
I incorporated them into our
four year old Christmas tablescape.

They helped update the look a bit
but last year I found a little something more.
Some Martha Stewart Collection
"Holiday Vintage Paper"
ceramic appetizer plates.

Available at Macy's for $26.97
styled to look like vintage Christmas
cards, I love the festive
imagery and colors!

Just yesterday Sam and I went to
Walmart and found the Better Homes
and Gardens Christmas salad plates

as talked about by Susan from
I love how they brighten the table
and add even more country charm.

The white of the plates compliment the
reindeer cookie jar better than I hoped for.
Even Cher agrees!
I'm pleased with this year's
new adornments to the
Christmas tablescape.
Thanks for stopping by
and Merry Christmas to all!

You Can Take The Snowman Out of The Desert...

But you can't take the desert out out the snowman.
Don't think that this Christmas hutch just
sits there with lawlessness running amuck.

No siree, we've got our very own sheriff.
A snowman who happily keeps the peace
with a level headed "Mayberry" approach
to law enforcement.
We call him Doc "Holiday"!
Straight out of the old West with
his rootin tootin cowboy attire
and his festive Saguaro Cactus, he makes a great
little salt and pepper set that I found at Kohl's
seven or so years ago from their Sonoma
St. Nicholas Square "Happy Trails Holiday" line.
I thought he was so special that I bought two
more sets! One for a white elephant gift and
another for an ornament swap at work.
The recipient was pleasantly surprised
that it wasn't an ornament.
Just look at his "sweet" little candy cane side arm.

With this little Western snowman on duty
rest assured it's always a silent night.
Thanks for stopping by
and happy hunting.

Pyracantha Watch 2014

December has arrived
and Christmas is on its way!
I'm delighted to report that the berries
on our new Pyracantha shrub
in the front yard have turned...
 bright red!!!
As red as Santa's suit!
It was taking its sweet time to turn too.
From the orange color it was at Halloween
to the Christmassy red it is now!
I was so hoping it was going to be
a red berry bush, and not stay orange,
and it did turn a beautiful red.
 It makes a perfect compliment
to my grapevine reindeer.
Hope everyone is having a December
full of happy surprises.
Thanks for stopping by
and happy hunting!

Happy Thanksgiving

In 1620 the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock.
They felled trees and built one room homes.
After the brutal winter where almost half the colony
died they met a Native American named Squanto.
He shared with them the secrets of growing
maze, fishing, and harvesting maple syrup.
Soon food was plentiful an they began to prosper.
In 1621 they celebrated their successful
growing season with a great harvest feast.
The men where sent out to hunt water fowl.
The Native Americans hunted five deer.
Surprisingly turkey may not have been on the
menu as much as lobster might have been.
90 Native Americans and 53 Pilgrims
took part in the feast that lasted three days.

The Pilgrims gave thanks and counted their
blessings for their fortunate new friendship.
Much like the friendships I've made on this blog.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours
and thanks for stopping by!

A Thanksgiving Tablescape with a Woodland Vibe

Finally another tablescape has worked its
way out of my brain and onto the table!
It's probably not completely finished this year...
but we got pretty far along.
Without being strictly a Thanksgiving theme, our
new table runner from World Market
inspires the colors used in the rest of the scape.
Plaid napkins were an affordable
find at HomeGoods this year.
I got the winning bid for two more Bordallo
Pinheiro turkey candle holders from eBay
to add to the one I've had for many years.
Then we picked up three burnt orange tapers
on sale at World Market,
along with some woodland critters
made with natural material.
Fall goblets from the dollar tree were a steal.
A bear from Target adds a twist
of the unexpected...
I wonder if bears were a
problem for the Pilgrims?
I grabbed a great deal on these
squirrel salt and pepper
shakers at Walmart for 50% off.
See the fox and little green bird?
 They're also finds from Target.
Turkey salad plates from Pottery Barn last year
compliment amber plates from World Market
this year.
For a finishing touch, this weekend, Sam and I
picked out these World Market wicker chargers
after seeing they were 20% off.
 This cute little raccoon bandit
was 25% off at Pier 1...we just couldn't resist.
I think we finally have a noble tablescape
of which to be proud.  We now have three, a
Christmas, an Easter, AND
a Thanksgiving one!
It definitely provides a nice compliment
to the Thanksgiving themed hutch.
Thanks for stopping by
and happy hunting.
