Christmas Tree Envy

Here's a decorated Christmas tree that
Pottery Barn is using to highlight some of their
2012 "Jewel Tone" ornament selection.
So beautiful!
I can only imagine
they must have been inspired by
Steve's blog An Urban Cottage.
Here is his tree from last year...
Simply magical!
I love the layered branches,
and the way the ornaments
have space to dangle.
Steve did a lot of research to find
the type of tree he was seeking.
A "Silvertip Fir".
In Pottery Barn's Blog
they explain that they went straight
to the source, Silvertip Tree Farm, to get
their 10 to 12 foot beauties.
Located in the heart of
the Sierra Nevada mountains,
The farm is just south of
Yosemite National Park.
Their tree stand is in North Fork, California.
The Farm's website states that Silver tips were
once the tree of choice
during the mid-twentieth century,
but are a rare find today.
After seeing Steve's tree
and
Pottery Barn's catalog,
I think that will soon change!

Talk about Tree Envy.

Here's Pottery Barn's "Gold Holiday"

Their "Nostalgia" tree is simply charming.

Their "Travel" tree,
Magnifique!

And their "Arctic Holiday"...
Enchanting!

I bet it won't be long before
you'll be able to find an
artificial Silver tip!

Have a Great December!
Thanks for popping in!
Happy Hunting!

Hi again! I thought I'd pop back by and check out a few more posts. I'm glad I hit on this one. I love this kind of tree. I have always jokingly referred to them as a "Charlie Brown tree." They really are beautiful, though, and offer an opportunity for some really creative decorating. I have a 4-ft version that is similar but I don't think it's a silver tip fir. My husband has banned real trees (he's afraid of fire, and I admittedly burn a LOT of candles around here, especially at Christmas!), so I hope they do come out with a nice (and affordable) faux version for consumers. That would be fantastic! I love both the PB version and your blog buddy's take on it. As Barney on "How I Met Your Mother" would say, "Challenged accepted!" for next year! :-)

Missed this post last year. I am on a break from decorating. Ha! I was barely started and now don't feel like doing it at all. I love these trees. This is the kind of tree I wish I had to put up this year.
